 Wild animals have a
certain sparkle in their eyes. They are alert and their bodies sleek
expressions of adaptation. They must use their wits to survive. There is
no zookeeper to provide food or water. Here in the African savannah,
animals must fend for themselves. Visit them in their home - the parklands
of Tanzania and Kenya.
Choose from several packages that can include: Sweetwaters, Samburu,
Maasai Mara, Mt.Kenya Safari Club, Arusha, Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro, and, of
course, the legendary savannahs of the Serengeti. For the ultimate
East Africa safari experience, consider adding two or three nights at an
exclusive private home or luxury tented camp.

Arusha / Lake Manyara National Park
We drive to Lake Manyara National Park, one of Africa’s jewels. It
is wedged between the high wall of the Great Rift Valley escarpment
and the waters of Lake Manyara. In the park’s north is an extensive
area of forest fed by ground water, populated by baboons, monkeys
and flocks of noisy hornbills. Further south is an area of umbrella
thorn trees where we find impala, zebra, giraffe and wildebeest. We
visit Manyara’s hippo pools and search for the most famous
residents: tree-climbing lions. We stay at our lodge, perched atop a
2,000-foot escarpment. LAKE MANYARA SERENA LODGE (B,L,D)
Days 4 - 6 • Monday - Wednesday
Serengeti National Park
We continue to Serengeti National Park, the greatest
reservoir of plains game on Earth. The Serengeti offers an endless
variety and immense quantity of wildlife, along with a highly varied
habitat. The migratory herds of wildebeest, zebra and gazelle roam
widely, searching for green grass and water. They face challenges
from predators such as lions, cheetahs, hyenas and wild dogs who
must hunt to survive. The greatest wildlife drama in the world
unfolds here each day. We stay at our private mobile tented camp,
sited where wildlife viewing is likely to be best. PRIVATE MOBILE

Olduvai Gorge / Ngorongoro Crater
Continue to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, first visiting Olduvai
Gorge, where the Leakey family did important work that shed light on
the development of humans and their predecessors. We spend a full
day exploring Ngorongoro Crater, where an abundance of food and
fresh water makes it possible for 30,000 large mammals to live. This
is the only place in East Africa where one can easily observe a
natural population of black rhino. Spend the night at our
magnificent lodge, located on the crater’s rim. NGORONGORO SERENA

this harsh yet picturesque region. Morning and afternoon game drives
allow ample time to explore this unique area and observe its

Day 13 • Wednesday
Mount Kenya Safari Club
Following breakfast, we navigate the slopes of Mt. Kenya
and wind our way through picturesque, rolling hills to the Mount
Kenya Safari Club. Built at the base of Mt. Kenya, this luxurious
country home has become a Kenyan tradition. The original house, with
its many guestrooms, was converted to an inn in 1948 and later
purchased by actor William Holden, who established it as one of the
most exclusive clubs in the world. The views are spectacular: from
the main house, the sweeping lawn stretches to the dark-green,
forested foothills brushing the base of snowcapped Mt. Kenya in the
distance. We have the afternoon free to swim, golf or visit the
wildlife nursery located on the grounds. MOUNT KENYA SAFARI
